Plaster Casts

Plaster Casts are made of gauze cloth evenly impregnated with calcium sulphate (Plaster of Paris). They are used in orthopedic treatments for immobilization of areas affected by simple or compound fractures, as well as in other orthopedic applications.

  • The interlaced fabric made of 100% cotton gauze enables the dust retention during the soaking and molding.
  • The saturation time ranges from 3 to 5 seconds.
  • The fast-setting time ranges from 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Final consistency: compact setting.

Setting Time

The setting time means the elapsed time until the plaster cast becomes hard enough.
It is measured from the moment that the plaster is added to
the water until the cast becomes hard.
The established setting time ranges from 3 to 5 minutes.

Method of Use
  • Using dry hands, unwrap the number of dressings needed for immersion.
  • Dressings should be immersed in a container with clean, warm water (25ºC to 30ºC) until bubbles disappear (3-5 seconds).

  • Take the dressing out and gently press from the edge towards the center
    to squeeze out excess water.
Precautions
  • When applying a plaster cast, it should remain uncovered for 48 to 72 hours
    to ensure complete drying and hardening.
  • For the first 2-3 days, the plaster should not be exposed to any type of pressure,
    artificial heat, or water. This can lead to the development of cracks and ulcers.
  • In case of discomfort, talk to a doctor.
    Do not use if the package is opened or damaged.
  • Do not reuse.
