Cellulose Oxidized Regenerated

TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose is a sterile, woven gauze made of regenerated oxidized cellulose. TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose is white with a pale yellow in color. It is designed for the control of local, small arterial, venous, and capillary bleeding. It can be used to stop bleeding when ligation or other hemostatic procedures are not applicable. It is stable at room temperature and can be used as packaged, without requiring mixing or other preparations.

TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose is designed for the control of small arterial, venous, and capillary bleeding. It should be used to stop bleeding when ligation or other hemostatic procedures are not applicable. TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose can be used in several surgery areas, such as: general surgery, gastric resection, throat or nose surgeries, gynecologic surgeries, neurosurgery (specially brain surgery), cardiovascular surgery, hemorrhoidectomy, vascular implant, biopsies, lung surgery, facial and jaw surgery, liver, and gallbladder surgery, abdominal and thoracic sympathectomy, thyroid surgery, skin grafts, and treatment of superficial injuries. TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose can be applied into cavities (after tumor resection) and can be used in endoscopic interventions or dental praxis.

Warnings

TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose should not be resterilized because the material is not suitable for sterilization with autoclave and ethylene oxide. TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose is not designed to replace the use of sutures and ligation in high-risk surgical procedures. Closing with TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose in a contaminated wound without drainage may lead to complications and should be avoided. The hemostatic effect of TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose is greater when it is applied dry; therefore, it should not be moistened with water or saline solution.

Precautions

Use only as much TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose as is necessary for hemostasis, holding it firmly in place until bleeding stops. Remove any excess before surgical closure in order to facilitate absorption and minimize the possibility of foreign body reaction. In urological procedures, minimal amounts of TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose should be used and care must be exercised to prevent plugging of the urethra, ureter, or a catheter by dislodged portions of the product. Since absorption of TAGUM Regenerated Oxidized Cellulose could be prevented in chemically cauterized areas, its use should not be preceded by application of silver nitrate or any other escharotic chemicals.
